大年砂防ダム Otoshi-Sabo Dam
いつもゴールデンウイークにMTBに乗るのを楽しみにしていますが、最近4月にMTBが故障しています。私のMTBが古いだからパーツがあるかどうかが心配です。先日新パーツが届いたので、今日は探検ライドができました。ずっと行きたかった場所にやっと行けました。
I'm always looking forward to riding my bike at Golden Week, but recently my bike has a major break down in April. Because my bike is quite old, I'm always worried whether I can get parts or not. My new parts arrived the other day, so today I went for a ride to explore a new area. I'd been wanting to go there for a long time and finally got the chance.

 今月はホイールのリムにひびが入りました This month a crack appeared in my wheel's rim |  見えるよね！しかし、ディスクブレーキだったら、気が付かなかった可能性が高いと思います。リムブレーキに当たっていたので見つけました。 You can see it, can't you！ However, if I had disc brakes, I might not have noticed it. I found it because it was hitting my rim breaks. |
ディジタルズーム Digital zoom
リムブレーキ用なホイールがあまりなさそうです。最近ほとんどのはディスクブレーキ用です。上のマヴィックス・ホイールがずっと使っていました。とても良いホイールでした。今度アラヤを使ってみます。これしか見つけなかったから仕方がないです。ディスクブレーキとチュ—ブレスタイヤがほしいですがこの古いMTBに付けるより新しいMTBを購入するかな～。しかし何がほしいかわかりませんのでゆっくり考えます。 There doesn't seem to be many wheels for rim brakes available now-a-days. Recently they are mostly for disc brakes. I used the Mavic wheel above since I bought the bike. It was a great wheel. This time I will try an Araya wheel. This is all I could find. I want disc brakes and tubeless tires, but rather than put them on this old MTB, I think I'll buy a new one. However I have no idea what I want, so will take my time thinking about it.

 この道路沿いに桜の木が多いです。だからずっと前から春に来て見たかったです。しかし、ちょっと遅いですね。満開が終わりました。 |  All along this road are lots of cherry trees. So from long ago, I wanted to come here and see them in Spring. However, I'm a little late. Full bloom has finished. |
 まずは左に行って、探検します。入ったら左上ににいた獣が逃げました。鹿でしょう。 First I will go left here and explore. As soon as I entered it, some wild animal on the hill to the left fled. I'm guessing deer. |  この分岐で右に行きます。なぜなら砂利道です。 I go right at the branch in the road here, because it's gravel. |
 いい感じ！ Looks ok！ |  ダムがあります There's a dam here |
 向こう側に桜の木があります。後で行ってみます。 There are cherry trees on the other side. I'll go over there later. |  綺麗！ Beautiful！ |
 見た目がいい！ Looks cool！ |  行き止まりです。私が入っている写真を撮ろうとしましたが10秒の内に間に合いませんでした。 The end of the road. I tried to take a selfie, but I didn't make it within the 10 second timer. |

 分岐に戻って、今度右の道を取ります。しかしすぐに行き止まりです。 I return to the branch in the road and this time take the right road. But it's a dead end almost straight away. |  木製治山ダム Wooden soil control dam |
 最初の道路に戻って、今度この左にある道に入って、ダムの向こう側に行けるでしょう。 I return to the original road and this time take this road on the left. I think it goes up the other side of the dam. |  |  発見すれば、絶対通報します。 The punishment for illegally dumping garbage. Up to 5 years imprisonment or ￥10,000,000 ($100,000). I'll definitely report them if I find them. |

色んな種類があります。コントラストが綺麗です。 There are different kinds of trees. The contrast is beautiful.

このダムに私は見たことがないカモがいくつかいました。ここのカモが阿蘇海にいるカモと違います。遠くから私を見ても全部のカモが逃げました。だから写真を撮るためにじっとしました。 There are ducks here that I have never seen before. They are different to the ones on Aso-Kai Lagoon. Even if they see me from far away, they take off. So to get a photo I had to be dead still.

カルカモのほうが多かったです。結構大きそうのもいます。 Spot-billed ducks were the most abundant. Some appear to be quite big.

 まだまだ行けそうですが2時までに帰らなければなりません。また探検をしに来ます。 The road looks like it still goes for some distance, but I have to get back by 2 p.m.. I'll come and explore again. |  同じ道で帰ります。 I go back the same way I came. |
