世屋高原紅葉ライド(52km) Seya Highlands Autumn Foliage Ride(52km)

今日は先週と同じルートで成相山を登って、そして、紅葉を楽しみながら、世屋高原に行く予定です。今朝、天気が素晴らしいです。ラッキーと思いながら家を出ました。しかし、1分ぐらい走ると成相山の方が曇っていることがわかりました。後で山の方も晴れるかな。 Today's plan is to follow the same route as last week up Mt. Nariai, and the while enjoying the autumn colors, ride across to Seya Highlands. The weather is beautiful in Miyazu this morning. Feeling lucky, I depart home. However, after 1 minute, I realize it is cloudy around Mt. Nariai.

先週、この倒木がなかったですよ。先週の寒気とともに風が強くなり、数か所に倒木がありました。 This fallen tree wasn't here last week. A strong wind came along with last week's cold air mass and knocked over a few trees.

あそこが晴れていますね。ここが曇っています。 It's sunny down there. Up here it's cloudy.

てっぺんの近くに後ろから音が急に聞こえました。獣に追われていますか。急いで後ろを見るともう一人のサイクリストがいました。びっくりしました。てっぺんで私がパンクを修理している間にあのサイクリスト（おださん）と長く話し合いました。おださんは岩滝に帰って、わたしは世屋高原に向かいました。 Near the top, I suddenly heard a noise behind me. Is a wild beast chasing me? A hurriedly look behind me to see another cyclist. We have a nice long chat at the top while I'm fixing a puncture. He heads back to Iwataki, and I head towards Seya Highlands.

この角度から阿蘇海が山の中にある湖のように見えます。 From this angle Aso-Kai Lagoon looks like a lake in the middle of the mountains.

紅葉が綺麗ですね。

The autumn leaves are beautiful.

赤い実が多いですが私は初めてこの色の実を見たと思います。これは「コムラサキ」（小紫）という植物でしょう。別名：「コシキブ」。人間は実を食べられないですが鳥、鹿、等が食べるそうです。この葉っぱからハーブティーを作れるそうです。

There are lots of red berries but I think this is the first time I've seen this color. I think it's called [Japanese Beautyberry] in English. people can't eat them but birds & deer do. Apparently, herbal tea can be made from the leaf though.

この林道に入ってブナ林登山口まで行きました。

I took a slight detour up this gravel road to the entrance of the beech tree forest hiking track.

一回、大ブナまで歩いたことがありますがMTBで走られるかな？最初の階段と沢山の蛇しか覚えていないですがまた行きたいです。来年の探検かな。 I've been up this track to the giant beech tree before. I wonder if I can MTB ride it. All I remember is the steps at the first part and lots of snakes. Maybe it can be next year's exploration.

緑色のは1975～2010年耕作されていた棚田で、青色のは2011現在耕作されている棚田です。大分減りましたね。The green is terraced rice fields that were cultivated between 1975 and 2010. The blue is the terraced rice fields that have been cultivated from 2011 till present day. A huge decrease.
