題目山　Mt. Daimoku

今日の天気が素晴らしいです。まだMTBの修理ができていないので、登山チャンスです。また題目山に登りたいですが、今度別の登山道で下りたいです。寺が沢山ある宮津市金屋谷に出ると思いますが場所が全然わかりません。（去年の8月に題目山に登りました。）
It's a stunning spring day. I still haven't repaired my MTB, so it's a good chance to go for a hike. I want to go up Mt. Daimoku again, but this time I want to come down by a different route. I think the track comes out in Kanayadani, Miyazu, but I have no idea where. (I climbed Mt. Daimoku in August last year)

100メートルを歩くと滝上浄水場のすぐ下にもう一つの駐車場があります。There is another car park 100 meters further up the road just below the Takigami water purification plant.

登山道口まで道路を歩きます。振り返ると宮津湾が見えます。As I walk up the road to the track entrance, I look back to see Miyazu Bay.

宮津市の水道がとても美味しいです。夏に冷やして飲むと他の飲み物が入りません。Miyazu's tap water is really delicious. I drink this chilled in summer and don't need any other drink.

1.1kmを歩くと題目山の登山道口に到着。 After walking 1.1 km I reach the track entrance to Mt. Daimoku.

尾根の上にでかい岩が見えます。 I can see huge rocks up there on the ridge.

ゾームアップをすると文字が見えます。 Zooming up on it, I can see writing.

私の身長が186㎝です。この岩が4メートルぐらい高いでしょう。 I'm 186 cm tall. This rock must be about 4 meters high.

あの4メートルぐらい高い岩にこれが書いてあります。 This is written on that 4 meter high rock.

この岩からの展望がなかなかいいですね。 The view from these rocks is pretty good.

岩のすぐ上で左を曲がります。右の道はどこに行くかわかりません。またいつか探検したいと思います。Turn left just up from the rocks. I don't know where the right path goes. I'd like to explore that some time.

題目山まで後360メートルです。 360 meters to Mt. Daimoku.

先ほど通った岩が見え、背景に妙見山も見えます。 You can see the rocks I just passed, and in the background you can also see Mt. Myoken

尾根を歩きます。

この木がやばい！！！もう倒れそうです。

This tree is dangerous!!! Looks like it will fall.

左に行きます。後で初めて右の道で下ります。 Turn left here. Later, I'll go down the mountain using the right hand path for the first time.

分岐から後15メートル　15 meters to go from the intersection.

このでかい岩の後ろに絶景ポイントです。 Behind this rock is the million dollar view.

題目山：標高264メートル Mt. Daimoku: Altitude 264 meters

次回にこの山に登りたいです。まだ行っていないですが平岩山でしょう。 Next I want to climb this mountain. I haven't been here yet, but I guess it is Mt. Hiraiwa.

トンネルのような部分もあります。私でも簡単に歩いて通れます。

There are also tunnel-like sections. It's no problem for me to walk through here.

何これ？ What's this?

誰もいないけれどテントが張っています。ずっと張ってある気がします。 There's a tent pitched here but no-one around. It looks like it is permanently pitched.

煙の臭いがします。もうちょっと歩いたら火葬場のところに出ます。 I can smell smoke. After walking a little further I come out at a crematorium.

この辺に寺が多いです。狭い裏の道を歩いて車に戻ります。There are lots of temples in this area. I walk through the narrow back streets back to my car.

I enjoyed viewing your pictures of your visit to Mt. Daimoku in Miyazu. I learned about Mt. Daimoku from reading 「大和コロニー　フロリダに「日本」を残した男たち」by 川井龍介. The author writes about the rock with the daimoku inscribed on it, which he says is at the summit of the mountain. I guess it is not. I've been to Miyazu several times but never to this mountain. The author of the book says it is also named Mt. Kanabiki (金引山) and also "Spirit Peak" (霊峰). Is that true? I've been to Kanabiki no Taki. Is Mt. Daimoku accessible from Kanabiki no Taki? Thanks.

Thank you for your comment. It was interesting for me to receive, as I actually know nothing about Mt. Daimoku apart from this one name and it's physical features. Most people in Miyazu seem to not know about it either. It would be a long walk up the mountain and down the other side (over 地蔵峠）if you went to Mt. Daimoku from Kanabiki Waterfall. It's best to access it from Takigami Park (滝上公園). Otherwise you can access it from the crematorium in Kanayadani (金屋谷). From Takigami Park, you walk up the road (there is only one) about 1 km until you see a sign on the left with 題目山 written on it (as pictured above).From there it is only a short distance to the rocks, which are more or less at the top. I'd recommend wearing footwear with good traction though. Just above the rocks, turn left and it is a short distance to the lookout. If it is a beautiful non-hazy day, you will be rewarded for your effort with a spectacular view. A good place to rest and eat. From the lookout you can either go down the other track to Kanayadani, or you can go back the way you came. There are a lot of temples in Kanayadani.
