丹後縦貫林道(大内峠線・奥寄線)
Tango Jukan Rindo (Ouchi Mt. Pass ・ Okuyori Sections)
It was a beautiful cloudless day all day. This time's destination was a place I'd been wanting to check out for many years. I might have discovered a good place for mountain biking. It was a 51km ride with a headwind most of the time. I was EXHAUSTED!!! I'd like to go again by car and explore at leisure on my MTB.
Ichjikan Park | The start point of the Tango Peninsula driving course, it is the best view point to see the Iwataki township. The view of Amanohasidate is one of the top three views and lines up Monju with Kunda Pass. |
Ouchi Mt. Pass | It is a mountain pass leading out of Omiya town and is an outstanding viewing spot of Amanohashidate which forms the shape of a horozontal stroke for the Chinese character one '一'. It has been a favoured place for artists since ancient times. |
Itanami Lookout | Just north of Ouchi Mt. Pass. You can look across to Monju, which is completely hidden when looking from the actual pass. |
Ichijikan Park is a place where you can camp, barbecue, do mini athletics, etc, all while enjoying the fantastic view. You can find information about the facilities here CLICK
Well! I've come out at Mitodani Pass onto national route 312. From here I will go to today's destination. What kind of place did I discover? To find out, please see part 2.
