丹後縦貫林道(丹後半島太鼓山へ) Kyoto Jukan Rindo (To Mt. Taiko, Tango Peninsula)
Today I went for a 72 km ride. From Miyazu cross Amanohashidate, go to Otokoyama, Iwataki, then take prefectural road route 53. Turn off on to Tango Jukan Rindo (Nariai Line) and stay on it to Mt. Taiko. From here head down to Yoro town and back along the coast to Miyazu. There is a lot of road works atm, so it would be impossible to do this route without a mountain bike and it would have to be on a Sunday.
When it gets hot and humid, sweat runs off me like a river. So I picked up some plum flavored salt tablets to replenish the salt I lose through sweating. It also replenishes sugars and citric acid. They tasted quite good. This kind of candy is recommended in summer in Japan when you sweat a lot as well as drinking lots to prevent heat stroke.
You can see all sorts things in the mountains. Today I saw 2 tanukis (raccoon dogs), and a snake, but what surprised me was a lady standing in the middle of the road with see-through lingerie on. I don't know who was more surprised. She obviously thought that no-one would be on that road since it was blocked off for major road works.
