これはなんでしょうか。 What is this?
はい、マムシの目でした。 Yes, it was the eye of a 'mamushi' (Japanese pit viper).
ヤマカガシ（有毒、攻撃的ではない）を見て、ＭＴＢを降りて、写真を撮ろうとした。しかし、その蛇が雑草に入って、いい写真が撮れなかった。私は地面を何度も激しく踏みつけて、そして一歩前に進んだ。その瞬間にもう一匹の蛇が私の足のすぐ前に動いた。私の言った言葉をここに書きません（笑）。マムシ（有毒、攻撃的）でした。そのマムシが逃げずに石の上にとぐろを巻いて、私に向いた。嬉しい！嬉しすぎる！これから楽しいことが始まるよ！
I saw a 'Japanese tiger keelback' (a venomous but largely passive snake) and stopped to take a photo of it. However, I couldn't get a good shot, because it had moved into the vegetation. I stomped on the ground a few times to scare any snakes away, and then took a step forward to get closer. at that instant another snake moved just in front of my foot, between me and the other snake. I can't repeat here what I uttered. It was a 'mamushi' (Japanese pit viper). They are an aggressive snake and venomous. To my delight, rather than flee, it sat on a rock, coiled up, and faced me. Let the fun begin.
