杉山の雪探検　Snowy Adventure on Sugiyama

久しぶりにいい天気です。杉山に行って、いつも雪ライドをしているコースの状態を見たいと思います。台風18号からの被害があるでしょう。 The weather is fine today. It's been a while. I think I'll go to Sugiyama and check the condition of the course we always use for our snow rides. There must be some damage from 'Typhoon 18'.

杉山の水が綺麗ですね。Sugiyama's water is crystal clear.

ダート道に向かいます。Heading for the unsealed road

大きな岩ゾーンが大丈夫です。The large boulder zone is undamaged.

竹ゾーンも大丈夫です。The bamboo zone is fine too.

土手が苔で緑です。 The embankment is green from moss

天橋立が見えてきました

Amanohashidate has come into view

世屋高原に雪が積もっています Snowy Seya Highlands

これは？ What's this?

おっ！ここに道がちょっと崩れています。 The road has caved in a little here.

そうですよ。先ほど雪でした。That's right! It was snow before.

おっ！ここも崩れています。

The road has been washed away here too.

この辺に道が10メートルほど荒れています。川の水が道を流れています。The road is damaged in about a 10 meter section here. The stream is running down the road.

これが初雪ライドになっちゃった！

This has turned out to be my first snow-ride

分岐に到着。いつも休憩をしている場所ですね。Arrival at the branch in the road. This is where we always have a rest.

「オレンジ色矢印」今福へ　「赤色矢印」大山スキー場へ。　今度は右に行きます。 [Orange arrow] to Imabuku [Red arrow] to Oeyama Ski Field. This time I go right.

ここではめがねカッパさんにすごくいい知らせがあります。
I have great news for Megane Kappa (MK).
ここがめがねカッパさんの気に入り部分です。台風18号によってひどく荒れられましたが綺麗に直されましたよ。以外に速かったですよね。This is the section that MK likes best. It was roughed up quite badly by Typhoon 18, but has now been fixed. That was unexpectedly fast.

綺麗になったでしょう！It's much better.

ここもよくなったよ。Here is better too.

グランドキャニオンがなくなったよ。 The Grand Canyon has disappeared.

すごい!!!丹後半島の向こう側の日本海が見えます。これはめったに見えないです。京丹後市の網野でしょう。

Wow!!! I can see the Japan Sea on the other side of Tango Peninsula. This is a rare sight. I'd say that was Amino in Kyotango City.

いいタイミング!!!舞鶴から小樽まで行っている北海道フェリーでしょう。Nice timing!!! I guess that's the Hokkaido ferry going to Otaru from Maizuru.

左側に小島と右側に冠島(別名：大島)が見えます。 You can see Kojima Island on the left & Kanmuri Island (otherwise known as Oshima Island) on the right.

「黄色線」網野方面、「ピンク色線」冠島（大島）と小島 [Yellow line] Towards Amino, [Pink line] Kanmuri Island (Oshima Island) & Kojima Island.

おっ！何これ？大杉？いつも反対方向に走るからこれが初めて見ました。Eh! What's this? Giant Cedar? Since I always travel in the opposite direction, I've never seen this sign before.

ちょっと行って見るかな。I think I'll go have a look.

紅葉が見える。Can see some autumn leaves

これかな。Wonder if it's this one.

結構大きいですね。 It's quite large, isn't it.

向こう側 The other side

道がまだあるからもうちょっと行って見ます。The track continues so I follow it a little further.

つらら Icicles

これも大きいですね。先の木よりもっと大きいかも知れません。 This tree is huge too. Maybe even bigger than the last tree.

ここは「出合」というところです。いつもこの分岐を通る時には、「あの道はどこに行くでしょう？」「風穴は何のことでしょう？」と思います。今度、一人ですので行って見ます。雪探検になるぞ！ This place is called 'Deai'. Every time I pass here I wonder where that track goes and what 'Kazaana' is. Since I'm with no-one else today, I'm going to find out. This is about to become a snowy adventure.

To Kasaana (10 min walk)

あそこかな！ Up there I guess!

ここから結構きついジグザグな登山道です。MTBを置いておいて歩いていきます。From here it's quite a steep zigzag track. I'll leave my bike here and walk up.

キノコ Fungus

道はその上の方にジグザグに上っていきます。The track zigzags up there.

楽な道になりました。 The track has flattened out.

この辺が面白そうです。岩が多くて苔が綺麗です。道が終わっちゃったようです。風穴ってなんでしょうか。 This place looks interesting. Lots of boulders and beautiful moss. The track has suddenly ended. I wonder what Kazaana is.

木が岩の上に生えっています。葉っぱが落ちているので山の展望も楽しめます。 Trees growing on a large rock. Since the leaves have fallen, I can enjoy a mountain view.

その下に赤色のリボンがあります。もしかして、風穴があそこにあります。ちょっと行きにくいけど行ってみます。 There's a red ribbon down there. maybe that is where 'Kazaana' is. It's a bit difficult to get down there, but I'll try.

風穴がこれですよね。どれぐらい深いでしょうか。

I'd say this was 'Kazaana'. I wonder how deep it is.

急に怖くなりました。今冬ですよね。熊ってこういうところで冬眠するでしょう。もし、熊が出てきて、「ちょっと、静かしてくれないかい」と言えば、どうしょう？逃げる場所がありません。熊の頭を蹴って、「お寝坊ちゃん、出てこないで」を言って、ということしか出来ません。 Suddenly, I feel a little fearful. It's winter, isn't it. Bears hibernate in places like this, don't they? What if a bear sticks it's head out and asks me to be quiet? What should I do? I have no where to run. All I could do is kick the bear in the head and say 'Don't come out sleepyhead'.

いい感じですね。 It's pretty nice here.

帰り道がわかりやすいです。私の30センチの足跡についていきます。 The way back is easy. I just follow my 30 cm footprints back.
