父が来日 （その2） Dad in Japan (Part 2)
今回は私も行ったことがないところに行きました。和田山に行きたい所が４つありました。今日やっと行けました。全部素晴らしかったです。大満足の一日でした。

竹田城跡 Takeda Castle Ruins
「日本のマチュピチュ」と「天空の城」としても知られていて、ずっと前から竹田城跡に行きたかったです。2004年の台風23号の後、被害のせいで行きませんでした。そして最近まで工事が行われていたので工事中に行きたくなったです。その上、非常に人気の見所になったので、週末と休日に観光客の数がものすごく多いそうです。今日は平日だってもお客さんが思ったより多かったです。
Also know as 「Japan's Machu Picchu」and 「Castle in the Sky」, from quite some time ago, I wanted to visit the Takeda Castle ruins. I didn't go due to possible damage from Typhoon 23 of 2004. And also until recently, there was repair work going on there, so I didn't want to visit while that was going on. On top of that, it has become a very popular place to visit, and I hear it can be really crowded at the weekend and on national holidays. Even though today was a week day, there were more people than I thought there'd be.

 まずは竹田城跡の向こう側の山に登りました。 Firstly, we went up the mountain across the valley from the Takeda Castle ruins. |  立雲峡という所です。展望台が3つあります。一番上まで歩いて30分くらいかかります。 This place is called Ritsuunkyo. There are 3 lookout points. It takes about 30 minutes to the top one. |

 ここに桜の木がものすごく多いです。 満開の時が美しいでしょう。 The are so many cherry trees here. It must be stunning when they are in full bloom. |  竜神の滝 Ryujin Waterfall |

竹田城跡 Takeda Castle ruins
 竹田城跡に行くのにこの播但連絡道路の橋をくぐります You pass under this Bantan Highway bridge on the way to the Takeda Castle ruins |  山城の郷にあった案内図。竹田城跡まで2.1㎞です。私達は歩きましたが、バスとタクシーも使えます。 The infomation board at the 'Mountain Castle Village'. It is 2.1 km to the Takeda Castle ruins. We walked it, but you can also use a bus or taxi. It was a pleasant walk. |

Takeda Castle Ruins
Takeda Castle Ruins
Takeda Castle was completed in 1443 and took about 12 years to build. It was abandoned around 1600. The highest spot is situated at 353.7 meters. The area of the castle measures 400 meters north to south and 100 meters east to west. The entrance fee is 500 yen for high school students and adults. It is free for junior high school kids and below.

素晴らしいところです。桜の木が沢山あります。満開の時が綺麗でしょう。 What an amazing place. There are quite a few cherry trees here. I bet it's beautiful when they are in full bloom.

昼ご飯は寿司でした。 父は寿司が大好きです。 We had sushi for lunch. Dad loves sushi.
 一番好きなのはこれでした。炙りサーモンバジルチース。 This was the favorite. Salmon basil cheese. |  これは2番目でした。えびアボカド。 This was 2nd. Shrimp avocado. |
デザートはらいらっくでアイスクリームを食べました。美味しかった。ここもとてもよかったです。お勧めします。

We had dessert at Lilac (Rairakku) jersey cow farm. The hand made ice-cream was delicious. This place was good too. I recommend it.

糸井渓谷 Itoi Ravine
最後に糸井の大かつらの木を見たかった。 Lastly, I wanted to see the giant Itoi katsura tree.
まず、糸井渓谷を通らなければなりません。道が非常に狭いですが、川、滝、崖等が面白いです。 First, you have to drive up the Itoi Ravine. The road is really narrow, but the river, waterfalls, cliffs etc are interesting.
 道路からの道が結構悪いです。歩いたほうがいいと思います。私はなんとなく車で行けました。距離は600メートルくらいあります。 The road is quite rough from the turn-off. It would probably be better to walk, but somehow I managed to drive up it. It's about 600 meters. |  何これ？変わっている木ですよね。幹が80本くらいがあるそうです。面白い！！！ What the heck! This is a strange tree. It has 80 trunks. Very interesting!!! |

実際はいつかに立雲峡、竹田城跡、らいらっく、糸井の大かつらに自転車で回って行きたかったですが、父と一緒に行ったよかったです。 Actually, I was thinking about riding around to Ritsuunkyo, Takeda Castle ruins, Lilac, and the Great Itoi Katsura Tree by bike. But I'm glad that I was able to go and explore it with my dad.
