今日は父（68歳）の夢が叶いました。それは私と一緒に日本でMTBライドをすることでした。 天気と気温がよかったです。めがねカッパさんのおかげさまで行けました。大事のMTBを貸して頂いてありがとうございました。感謝しております。
Today, my 68 year old father's dream came true. That was to go mountain biking in Japan with me. The weather and temperature were good. We were able to go thanks to Megane Kappa for lending me his precious mountain bike. Much appreciated mate.

まず、大江山スキー場まで車で行きました。あそこで記念撮影を．．．　Firstly, we went to Oeyama Ski Field by car. Here we took a commemorative photo

日本の美しい大自然の中。私は68歳になるとまだこのことができるかな～。 In the middle of Japan's beautiful nature. I wonder if I can still do this when I'm 68...

目的地に到着。「なぞの池」という場所で、絶景ポイントです。 Our destination called 'Nazo-no-Ike' (Mystery Pond). A place with a stunning view.

デザート。ようかんとピーナッツスラブ。 Dessert. Peanut slab and 'yokan' (bar of sweet jellied azuki bean paste)

このチョコレートの会社（ウィッタカーズ）がニュージーランドの一番いいチョコレートを作っています。120年の歴史があります。 This chocolate company (Whittakers) makes the best chocolate in New Zealand. It has 120 years of history.

父は甘いものが大好きです。この写真をウイタカーズにおくるとチョコレートを無料でもらえるかな～という話をしました。(笑) Dad loves sweet things. He said that maybe Whittakers would give him some free chocolate if he sent in this photo. (lol)

せっかく来たので記念撮影を撮りたかったです。しかし大きい三角がありませんでした。それは問題なしでした。作りました！！！

Since we finally made it all the way to here, we needed a commemorative photo. But I didn't have a big tripod on me. No problem!!! I made one.

最後に父に古代杉を見せたかったです。しかし、トラックに入る前、私の足のすぐ近くに蛇を2つ見ました。どうしてもお父さんは森に入ってきてくれませんでした。私の大好きの所ですので、残念でした。
To finish things off, I wanted to show dad the ancient cedar trees. But just before entering the forest, we saw 2 snakes right next to my foot. There was no way I could get dad to come into the forest after that. That was a shame, as it is one of my favorite places.

帰る前、航空管制塔の絶景ポイントまで行きました Before going back home, we went up to the air traffic control tower to take in the fantastic view

与謝野町 Yosano Town

与謝野町の向こう側に京丹後市と日本海が見えます Beyond Yosano Town you can see Kyotango City and the Sea of Japan

右側に宮津市、宮津湾、栗田半島、若狭湾、など見えます。 On the right hand side you can see Miyazu City, Miyazu Bay, Kunda Peninsula, Wakasa Bay, etc.

今日は赤色のトンボが沢山いました There were lots of red dragonflies around today

山を下りる途中に道路にこのオスの鹿がいました。森に飛んでいきましたが、止まって、1分くらいお互いをじっと見ました。その後、鳴いて逃げました。その後、20メートルを走って、道路にメスの鹿が2頭いました。 This stag was standing on the road as we went down the mountain. It fled into the forest, but stopped and we stared at each other for about a minute before it let out a roar and fled from view. 20 meters further down the road we came across 2 does on the road.

その夜、知り合いの家に行って、鍋を食べました。ごちそうさまでした。お父さんにとって、久しぶりに会って、楽しい時間を過ごせました。ありがとうございました。 That night, we went to a friend of the families house and were treated to hot pot dishes. It was very delicious. It had been a long time since my father had met them and we enjoyed the evening very much. Thank you.

次は1300年の歴史がある場所に行きました。どこだったでしょうか。楽しんでください。
Next we went to a place that has 1300 years of history. Where was it? All to be revealed soon.
